Our Story

How did you get started in your business?

I, like many recently retired people, found myself trying to figure out what to do with all my new found free time. After a couple different ventures into the retail field, I decided to try selling consignment clothing with small antique and vintage pieces. Just like the clothing and antiques, I realized I was offering myself a "Second Season" as well.

What do you feel has been your biggest challenge?

I think the biggest challenge for me has been getting the word out to people letting them know that I am open, where the store is and what exactly I do. I hope everyone who comes to Second Season Marketplace leaves the store feeling like they have found a new place to visit - even if the didn't make a purchase. If they do it means we made them feel comfortable and welcome. Maybe their next visit they will find something to buy.

What makes Second Season Marketplace different?

I do a 50/50 split with my consignors. I also offer them the opportunity to put their clothes in the store's clearance section for an additional 6 months. If clothes don't sell at the end of those 6 months they can be picked up or I will donate them to CANNs - a local clothing charity for people in need. I don't keep any clothes that are left at the store.  Not only do I try to provide my consignors  and shoppers with a positive experience, but I also try to have a positive impact in the community where I live.
